December

First off, I would like to congratulate our new promoter, Mr. Corey Rothe Trahan, on taking on such a legacy of a pageant. I am already thrilled and excited for the direction this pageant is going. My mom always says God has a plan for us, and maybe I needed to compete for 14 years to obtain every bit of knowledge of the system, the handbook, go through different state and national promoters, become more of a professional and respected queen to become Miss Gay Louisiana America this year, while getting a new promoter and bringing this pageant to where it needs to be. I know that I am the queen for this job. Everything happens for a reason.

This month has been supper busy for me, hosting the Miss Mary Christmas pageant, stepping down as Miss National Apollo, and sewing!

If you want to have a fabulous time, message me for info and come enjoy yourself at the Baton Rouge Apollo ball on Saturday, January 6, 2018. It will be a blast...

Now I would like to give my shout outs to two of my sisters this month that have been working on continuously being excellent. Miss Star Alexander, for for continuing her career as a makeup artist and now becoming one of Estťe Lauder's professional brand makeup artist!! Also, congrats to Ivy Dripp, on capturing the title of Miss Gay Gulf Coast USofA!! My sisters, congrats, I love yaíll!!

Finally, I feel like I am getting old, I now have a drag daughter and pageant queen in the making! Miss Rei Mars Roberts, congratulations on your new title Miss Mary Christmas and welcome to the Roberts family! Itís time I pass all my knowledge down to help grow someone into the best they can be!!

Lastly, I just want everyone to remember itís Christmas - a time for giving. As I get older, I honestly can say I donít care if I get a single present this year. I have my family and friends and love. Well, and that MGLA crown I stare at everyday! Lol but seriously, I want to do all I can to give this year to people who may be in need. I want to see my sisters hopefully doing the same this season. Letís try and make others Christmas' special as ours.

This Friday, I will be donating a my time and performing at Splash for their annual Christmas party to raise money for the Childrenís Hospital for toys so that we can brighten up these kids year.

Remember, stay excellent!!!

November

Well, Halloween is over, and now it's time for ball season!!! I will be in the Krewe of Apollo Baton Rouge Ball on January 6, so come out and enjoy .

This past month has had its ups and downs. I performed in the Playgirlz Show at Golden Lantern Bar in New Orleans, and in the Splash (Baton Rouge) Thursday night show.

I am about to start planning my tour, and a huge fundraiser for my platform I have this year, which is the Apollo Aids and Crisis Fund. As a potential contestant, start thinking about your platforms and how you will contribute to them.

I will also be giving up my Miss National Apollo title at Splash on November 17, so please come out and show your support.

I would like to give some shout outs to some amazing girls!

First, Miss Andy Black; your Halloween makeup was amazing - you are so artistic! I am amazed by what you do. Keep up the good work, and stay excellent!!

Second, Miss Lana O'Day; I have been noticing all of the photography you have been doing, capturing the beauty of many queens. I think you have found a calling and Miss Gay Louisiana America needs to set up an appointment with you! Keep it up, and stay excellent!!!

Also, let's remember the holidays are approaching, and there may be families out there that are less fortunate than us. Whether it's dropping off canned goods at a local food bank, or cleaning out our wardrobes and donating coats and jackets to a shelter, let's do it, and keep others in mind!!!

Until next month, stay excellent everyone!!!

Wow!! What an amazing time I had at MGA. I got to see some old friends, and make some new ones. The experience was unbelievable for me and the new owners are on the right track for keeping the system excellent!!

I think it finally is sinking in that I am your new Miss Gay Louisiana America, after hearing it announced at MGA.

I also want to give praise to Ivy Dripp, she won the Inspiration Award at the pageant. She truly is a inspiration and a great person, we bonded and helped each other out through the competition, and made sure Louisiana showed out.

Now, on to more costuming for a drag queens favorite holiday; Halloween!

Remember stay excellent, believe in yourself , and don't give up !!

September

Wow! What can I say?! I am truly ecstatic, as well as humbled to finally fulfill a lifelong dream of becoming Miss Gay Louisiana America!

Some of you may not know, but when I started drag in 2001, I didn't start for fun, or to perform, I jumped right into pageants. I wanted to represent a title and try to make a difference in the community. In 2003 I learned about the Miss Gay Louisiana America pageant, and decided to give it a try. Well, it made a lasting impression on me. I got to learn about so many talented individuals that had won the title, and I wanted to be added to that legacy. MGLA was known as really the best of the best. I wanted to be a part of that sisterhood so bad that 14 tries later, here I am.

People may say I'm crazy for competing for so long, but I wanted this dream so badly that I wasn't going to give up. At times it was hard to pick myself back up and keep going, but with God, my parents, my friends, supporters, and the formers being there for me, I was able to find the determination. I am living proof and a symbol for all of you who have a dream, to NOT give up! Believe in yourself, and no matter how long it takes, it can happen.

I want to be there for all the contestants who share this same dream that I did. I have been through it all. I have competed under different promoters and watched this system change and grow.

Please don't hesitate to contact me. I am here for you, and we are a sisterhood.

Until next month's letter...
